About

Nestled among the rich farmland of Northwest Iowa, Excelsior United Methodist Church has been deeply rooted in Christ since 1893. Like the fields that surround us, our congregation has weathered changing seasons, nurtured new growth, and continues to be sustained by God's faithfulness for more than 130 years.

While our church building has grown and changed—from the addition of a basement in the 1940s to a thoughtful renovation and expansion completed between 2023 and 2025—our mission has remained the same: to love God, love our neighbors, and make disciples of Jesus Christ. Generations of faithful people have gathered here to worship, serve, celebrate life's joys, and support one another through its challenges. Today, we are grateful to continue building on their legacy of deep roots and strong faith.

Whether you've been part of a church for years or are simply searching for a place to belong, you'll find a warm welcome at Excelsior. We believe God is at work not only in life's extraordinary moments but also in the quiet rhythms of everyday life. We invite you to join us as we worship together, grow in faith, and discover the ways God continues to work through this small country church.
